After Josh’s last post, I had to find something to restore my faith in man-kind. Edward Van Halen performing Eruption, circa 1994.

I hope I’m not the only one that finds this fucking hilarious. Just look at their faces, these are grown women. Haha. I think Sara Gilbert makes an appearance around 1:42.

Sorry to be so main stream. But I thought this was a pretty cool little video from Weezer’s upcoming album. The video features parodies and clips of all your and mine YouTube favorites. I think it’s going to be called ‘The Red Album’… or something:

I tell you. That North Carolinian record label that could – Ramseur Records is starting to rack up quite the artist arsenal. The Avett Brothers, The Everybodyfields, and now the quartet of Bombadil. Damn guys – movin’ on up.
There’s one thing I know. If I were to have successfully made it through college and rocked in a local band that actually made waves – I would be soaking my feet in some hot water with maybe some aroma therapy shit, whistling tunes about how life is great. But, that shit didn’t happen – college worked out, but being in a band is as much, if not more time consuming, than a collegiate level course load. That’s why Bombadil’s predicament should have them in pedicure heaven.
Currently schoolians of Duke University – Bombadil spend their time in between classes writing poppy folk tunes that feel whisked from the mountains and hollers of North Carolina. With a whimsical take on lyrics, a flick of the acoustic guitar, and a pinch of porch swinging casualness, Bombadil may take over as this summer’s soundtrack. Welcome them in with a tall glass of iced tea.

IN A WORLD WHERE THE BLAND ARE LEADING THE BLAND. LOOSERS TAKE ALL.
That’s the tag line from the upcoming motion picture Let It Be. Starring… who else… Atlanta garage-rockers The Black Lips! From what I can tell, it looks to be a dramatization of a Replacementsesque band in a fictional late-80s American underground rock scene. It is scheduled to begin production this month, and will be filmed throughout the Southeast. It will include notable music of the period and some new tunes. I am so fucking excited about this about this movie. Let’s just hope it doesn’t turn out to be Empire Records or That Thing You Do.

No, that old dude is not part of the trio. Made of two brothers and another, Frightened Rabbit is a gem from Glasgow that combines honest, heart-on-the-sleeve diction, with layered sonic guitars. But my articulation is a definite shortfall to these gents talents. Instead you could click the play button below and forget I ever said anything. Their new album The Midnight Organ Fight has just made it’s way into my top 10 of the year, maybe even top 5.
